New Simulation Package
All FeatureCAM products now have brand new 3D toolpath simulation.
Fast rotation of the 3D solid simulation. Now rotate or scale the
simulation without waiting.
If you want to focus on a specific area of the part and use the new region
of interest feature. The rest of the part is ignored so that you can quickly
study how the toolpaths affects this particular region.
In FeatureMILL3D find out where you have material remaining by using Part
Compare. The areas in dark blue are the regions where there is material left
to cut
In FeatureMILL3D use the new RapidCut simulation to quickly see the the
final result of your toolpaths. You no longer have to watch the tool
animate just to see the end result of the simulation. Instead use
RapidCut to see your simulation in a matter of seconds.
Centerline simulations can now be rotated or zoomed for closer study.
You can also control the speed of the centerline simulation.
If you also purchase the new Solid Modeling option, you can simulate clamps
or fixtures and detect any collisions that might occur.
Also use a solid model as you initial stock shape for simulation.
Feed Rate Optimization
Version 8 has a new feedrate optimization capability for FeatureMILL or
FeatureMILL3D. As tools cut corners or change their depth of cut, the tool
load varies. With FeatureCAM's Feed rate Optimization, the feed rate of
each move is modified to even out the tool load. This provides
More even wear on the tool.
More even wear on the machine tool.
A faster running NC program in many cases.
FeatureTURN/MILL
FeatureTURN/MILL is the latest addition to the FeatureCAM product family.
This product combines the features of FeatureMILL and FeatueTURN to support
lathes with C and Y-axis milling capabilities. FeatureTURN/MILL makes
programming these complex machines simple. Just use the feature wizard to
orient the feature and FeatureTURN/MILL takes care of all the details
including the NC code. FeatureTURN/MILL can perform polar interpolation
for you or let the machine tool perform the interpolation.
FeatureMILL
The premier 2.5D milling package just got better with:
Zig-zag milling. FeatureMILL now has two different milling strategies to
choose from. The first, offset milling has always been the default. This
technique offsets the profiles of the feature and clips them against the
stock shape.
The new type being introduced is zig-zag milling. This technique uses
straight parallel cuts to rough the part. This technique can be applied
bi-directionally or uni-directionally for constant climb milling.
DXF dimensions are now imported along with the part geometry.
Simplier radial positioning. In previous versions if you wanted to make a
radial pattern on the OD for indexed drilling, you would have to create a
coordinate system for each hole. Now position the pattern with the click
of a single button.
Solid modeling is now an option with FeatureMILL.
FeatureRECOGNITION

Works well in conjunction with the separate Catia Direct Import Option.
FeatureMILL3D
New 3D surface milling wizard. FeautreMILL3D now has a step by step wizard
for simplifying the process of creating 3D features.
Z level remachining. Now in addition to parallel and spiral remachining,
you can now automatically apply a Z-level finishing technique to the uncut
portions of your part.
Combination features. Now create multi-operation mlling strategies quickly.
Finish the entire part using a slope limit using the Horizontal+Vertical
Strategy, or use the Parallel + 90 º Remachining operation to mill in one
direction and then remove large scallops by cutting only where necessary
in a perpendicular direction.
Automatic spiral boundary calculation. Now when using a spiral operation,
the silhouette boundary of the part can be calculated automatically so that
the toolpaths closely mimic the overall shape of the part.
Automaticl 3D tool selection. For finish operations tools are now
automatically selected based on the smallest curvature of the surfaces
in the feature.
Improved edge protection. Edge protection has been renamed Edge Rollover
and should now be easy for FeatureMILL3D customers. Typically just set this
option to internal and the tool should properly rollover the internal edges
of the part, but not over the external edges. .
Solid Modeling Option
Parting surface. Now create parting surfaces directly from a solid model
and parting curve.
Deleting features. Aften importing a solid model, you can now remove faces
and automatically fill back in the gaps.
Solid stock. Use a solid model as the initial stock shape for simulation.
New core cavity improvements. This tool has been overhauled to provide the
top, bottom or core surfaces of a model. Support is also provided for a
user-specified parting surface.
Draft faces. Now draft any face individually.
FeatureTURN
Subspindle support. FeatureTURN now supports machines with subspindles.

Catia Import Option
Now you can directly import Catia⌐ surface and solid models. This eliminates
any irregularities that can be introduced in Catia IGES files. These models
can then be used with the FeatureRECOGNITION option or with surface milling
capabilities of FeatureMILL3D.
